Stay Somewhere with Soul: The Cottage Collection Tybee Island

Some places are simply somewhere to sleep. Others become part of an ongoing story.

Tucked beneath the moss-draped oaks and quieter rhythm of Tybee Island's North End, The Cottage Collection Tybee Island offers a stay that feels personal, storied and undeniably coastal. Featuring two thoughtfully restored historic homes — Officer's Row and Bliss Cottage — this family-owned collection blends colorful design, vintage charm and Tybee-inspired modern comfort just minutes from North Beach, the Tybee Island Light Station and Museum and beloved local favorites.

Historic Officer’s Row home on Tybee Island featuring wraparound porches, tall palm trees, expansive lawn and classic coastal architecture on the North End.

The venture begins long before your toes hit the sand. Groceries can be stocked before arrival, recommendations for restaurants and island activities are readily available and every detail feels intentionally welcoming without losing Tybee’s laid-back allure and colorful personality. It’s concierge-level hospitality with a far more personal touch.

The Cottage Collection - Officer's Row

Officer’s Row: North End Charm

At Officer's Row, history and island living comfortably coexist. Located within Tybee’s historic Fort Screven district, the grand home once served as housing for military officers stationed nearby in the early 1900s. Today, the restored property welcomes guests with wraparound porches, colorful interiors, a private pool and plenty of room to gather after long beach days. While the home’s architectural roots remain beautifully intact, the atmosphere never feels formal or overly polished. Instead, it invites guests to settle in, slow down and enjoy the quieter side of Tybee.

Mornings here are gleefully self-paced. Coffee on the porch, a quiet breeze moving through the palms and nowhere particular to be. After a day at North Beach, guests often gather back at the pool or stretch out across the home’s spacious living areas, swapping stories, playing cards or deciding where dinner should be. Throughout the house, preservationist Jane Coslick’s colorful design choices keep the historic property feeling relaxed, welcoming and full of character. With room for up to 10 guests, Officer's Row comfortably accommodates family vacations, friends' weekends and celebrations worth lingering a little longer for.

The Cottage Collection - Bliss Cottage

Bliss Cottage: A Colorful Retreat

Just nearby, Bliss Cottage offers an entirely different mood: cheerful, colorful and filled with the kind of charm that coaxes you to let down your guard and leave your worries behind the moment you walk through the door.

Built in 1898, the historic cottage embraces Tybee’s playful spirit with whimsical interiors, bright artwork, cozy porches and nostalgic touches that feel collected over time rather than perfectly staged. From the retro-inspired kitchen and breezy napping porch (love that!) to the private saltwater pool tucked behind a white picket fence, Bliss Cottage feels both timeless and joyfully lived in.

Families especially will appreciate the flexible layout, bunk room and inviting indoor-outdoor spaces designed for reconnecting after sun-soaked days on the island. Four separate porches offer plenty of room to unwind, whether that means sharing cocktails beneath twinkling string lights, curling up with a beach read or simply listening to the evening breeze move through the trees.

Part of the appeal is the location itself. Tybee’s North End moves at a softer pace than much of the island, where beach days are interrupted only by lighthouse climbs, coffee runs, bike rides and the occasional dolphin sighting offshore. North Beach has a calm, easygoing personality that makes people dawdle much longer than planned. Spend the morning searching for shark teeth near the jetties, browse local shops in the afternoon or settle in for one of Tybee’s colorful sunsets before heading back to the cottage.
