Tybee Island’s Award-Winning Restaurants & Accommodations
By: Brittany Howard
Tybee Island’s beautiful beaches aren't the only reasons to visit this coastal town. Our community boasts several award-winning businesses that every visitor should experience.
Tybee Island has been recognized for both its fantastic food and rejuvenating accommodations. Add these treasured establishments to your itinerary when you begin planning your next visit to the island.
THE CRAB SHACK
Once a fish camp and charter service, the Original Crab Shack naturally evolved into a Tybee Island staple when the community gathering hole became a permanent dining spot. With Captain Jack and Belinda Flanigan at the steer, this picturesque waterfront restaurant offers mouth-watering seafood dishes and assorted menu options, retail apparel and their own specialty sauces and spices (perfect for souvenirs!)
TYBEE TIME SPORTS BAR
Tybee Time Sports Bar is the place for sports, cold beer and frozen daiquiris. Camaraderie is sure to be had when you visit as you mingle with the locals and chat away with the bartenders. Not a sports fan? We won't tell if you take your drink to-go and hit the sand instead. They're just that good.
It's a no-frills, no-fuss atmosphere serving hearty breakfast and brunch items to its devoted island community and visitors. The Breakfast Club isn't afraid to put a twist on classic menu items. Their omelets can calm any appetite, while their pecan waffle adds a sweet kick to the morning. Too late for a traditional breakfast? Have breakfast for lunch instead because it’s served all day. Come join the club!
It’s an inspiring landmark and is the island's largest and oldest hotel. In 1889, Hotel Tybee was once a luxurious hotel and cottage rental establishment that, like Tybee Island, was only accessible by train. After an unfortunate fire in 1909, it was reconstructed in 1911. Over the years it has known new owners and has undergone a few changes as well as a full remodel in 2015. Located steps from the beach, local attractions and a 20-minute drive to Savannah, it's a wonderful accommodation choice with a touch of history.
DESOTO BEACH HOTEL
Popularly known as Tybee's only beachfront hotel, DeSoto Beach Hotel is an amenity-rich hotel that takes pride in its visitor's experience. This family-owned property opened its doors in 1999 and strives to go above and beyond for its guests by offering recently renovated rooms and suites, as well as the beach in their backyard.
BEACHVIEW INN & SPA
Did someone say all-inclusive? Come home to Tybee you love and stay awhile at the Beachview Inn & Spa. Guest will enjoy a restful night's sleep on luxurious linens in elegant quarters and suites. Breakfast is served promptly every morning. When it's time to hit the beach, they've got you covered with beach towels, chairs and bikes to explore the island. Don't forget to book some time at the Tybee Salt Spa, a relaxing inn amenity that is the perfect complement to your stay.
SURF SONG BED & BREAKFAST
Surf Song Bed & Breakfast isn't your typical B&B – it's better. In this 120-year-old Victorian beach house, guests will enjoy private access to beautiful North Beach, a fantastic gourmet breakfast, a spacious wraparound porch and fantastic hands-on staff. Guest will swoon to the sounds of the ocean, elegant accommodations, in-ground pool and coastal breeze. The epitome of peace and quiet.
Ditch the car and enjoy complimentary parking while admiring the beauty of the island when you book your stay at Admiral's Inn on Tybee Island. Kick your feet up in a delightful king or two queen guest rooms with elegant modern touches - perfect for family, friends or a romantic escape for two. Take a refreshing dip in the outdoor pool and hang ten as you take pictures at the poolside mural. Allow the concierge-trained staff to assist in making your stay a breeze by finding the best attractions and restaurants on the island. This charming establishment is a seamless escape just a block away from the beach.
