If any film is going to give “Nomadland” a run for the Best Picture Oscar, it’s “Minari,” an intimate and heart-wrenching portrait of family and assimilation in 1980s America.

A tender and sweeping story about what roots us, “Minari” follows a Korean-American family that moves to a tiny Arkansas farm in search of their own American Dream. The family home changes completely with the arrival of their sly, foul-mouthed, but incredibly loving grandmother. Amidst the instability and challenges of this new life in the rugged Ozarks, “Minari” shows the undeniable resilience of family and what really makes a home.

It's earned six Oscar nominations; critics love it; Rotten Tomatoes gives it a 98% fresh rating. “A film shimmering with universal truths about childhood, family, mortality, belonging, dreams, and hope,” says one critic.

“There is such depth, truth, and warmth to all of these people... Every choice here is beautiful and perfect,” exclaims NPR.
