Lights On For Tybee Celebration

Witness the lighting of the enormous Christmas tree in the center of downtown Tybee Island at this celebration of lights! The beloved ceremony will feature a singalong led by the Tybee Arts Association‘s Performing Society, caroling outside of the historic Carbo House and performances by students of The Studio. Enjoy complimentary refreshments throughout downtown Tybee during the evening celebrations.

Tybee Island’s Annual Christmas Parade

This yearly tradition celebrates the island’s small town charm. Follow the lively parade through downtown Tybee Island and all the way to the Tybee YMCA. Children can have their photos taken with island Santa Claus, enjoy holiday-themed snacks and play lots of reindeer games.

WHEN: December 2 at 1 p.m.

Christmas Tour at the Tybee Island Light Station

Travel back through time and experience the sights and customs of Christmas at Tybee Island’s lighthouse in the days of our last lighthouse keeper and his family. This quaint depiction of holiday cheer in the 1930s and 40s illustrates the traditions of a simpler time for this military families of Fort Screven. Enjoy seeing the island’s twinkling lights from the top of the lighthouse, carols, hot cider and the joy of the season by the warm glow of candlelight. Please call 912-786-5801 for reservations.

8th Annual Tybee Boat Parade 

Watch as dozens of festive boats show off their lights and decorations at the Crab Shack‘s many docks! Enjoy a free hot dog and chili bar when you bring a canned food donation for America’s Second Harvest Food Drive. The boats will set sail on their scenic promenade throughout Tybee Island’s coastal waterways for all to see, and will return once again to display their masterpieces!

10th Annual Tybee Island Tour de Lights Christmas Parade

All are invited to join in the holiday fun at the 10th Annual Tybee Island Tour de Lights Christmas Parade! Dress your bicycle and/or golf cart in its holiday finery and spread the holiday cheer all across our quaint, coastal community. Learn more here.

New Year’s Eve Fireworks

Polar Plunge

The 18th annual Polar Plunge is a quirky tradition held every New Year’s Day at the Tybee Island Pier and Pavilion. Join more than 1,000 brave souls as they plunge into the chilly Atlantic at noon. And don’t miss the Gang of Goofs contest – you can watch dozens of fun-loving gangs sporting wacky costumes parade in front of celebrity judges. It’s a happy-go-lucky way to start 2018!
