The Big Day
Imagine the golden light of the setting sun on the ocean, the salty breeze as it gently flutters your veil, and the sand between your toes. This is what a Tybee wedding is all about.
Every Tybee Island wedding is unique to the couple saying their I do’s in the sand. From small, private affairs to larger scale nuptials, our beautiful, sandy beaches can accommodate them all.
When searching for rehearsal dinner venues, peruse the island’s many restaurants to find the perfect locale. Receptions can be beachside, by the historic Tybee Island Light Station, the Tybee Island Wedding Chapel and Grand Ballroom, or at several other beautiful Tybee locations.
Your guests will have their pick of any of the island’s affordable hotels or whimsical coastal vacation rentals.
Visit Tybee’s Sales Manager, Kim Webster, is available for assisting with lodging arrangements and information on holding events on the island. She can be reached by phone at 912-644-6471 or by filling in the contact
form further down on the page.
Special Event Permits may be required to host your event on the beach.
Special Event Permits
Portions of Tybee’s beaches can be reserved to host a private event. If you want to reserve a part of the beach to hold an event that excludes the general public you will need to obtain a Special Event Permit through the City of Tybee Island.
If you don’t feel it is important for your event to be strictly private, no Special Event Permit is required.
The basic philosophy is that if the wedding is similar to the usual use of the beach, where people erect their chairs or lay their blankets, no special arrangement is necessary. However, if a portion of the beach is “reserved for exclusive use”, such as with tents, ropes, platforms, etc., then a “Special Event” occurs, requiring an application approval, possible fee, etc.
For more information on forms, contact Karen Reese, Facilities Coordinator at the City of Tybee Island at (912) 786-4573.
To obtain a Marriage License, contact the Chatham County Probate
Court located in the Court House room #509 on Montgomery Street in
